As I was planning, I waited till I go on a cruise to read the book. I really would like to compare this book to music peace. It goes crescendo almost to the end, and than fireworks. I could not put the book down. Glad I took it with me. Heart worming love story. Was good to visit with all from past books. Mad About the Man The Grayson Series Tracy Anne Warren 9780451466150 Books Reviews
Mad About the Man (The Graysons #3) by Tracy Anne Warren has a cute setup with a very independent minded, workaholic lawyer heroine who is very dedicated to her job. Her professional and personal life goes into a tailspin when she comes face to face with someone from her past- a former bully of sorts who made her 7th grade year impossible. The former twelve-year-old bully, who actually had a thing for the heroine is a rich CEO who wants to make amends, so to speak. You can just imagine how he wants to do that, which causes the heroine grief because she finds herself very attracted to her former nemesis who now makes her enjoy life.
Brie is a smart and savvy lawyer who barely has a personal life. She has turned her back on love because she got involved with a co-worker at her old job, who happened to be married and he didn’t tell her. Her law firm she has worked at for the past five years or so is trying to grab a new client, some luxury hotel magnate with a lot of money to spend. Brie goes along to seal the deal, and is in for a big surprise because Maddox made her life miserable for a year when she was twelve. Maddox recognizes her right away, and is thrilled she’s back in his life. The only way he’ll change law firms and lawyers is if Brie is his lawyer. He sweetens the deal by suggesting to her bosses that she makes partner and is given a raise. Brie is annoyed Maddox would use this type of blackmail, but he makes no excuses. She’ll try and keep things professional between them, but Maddox is used to getting want he wants. He wants to prove to Brie he’s no longer that snot nosed kid she remembers so he can have a shot with her because somehow he knows she’s the only woman for him.
Mad About the Man is your typical romance about a rich, handsome CEO hero who tries to take over the heroine’s life. But this heroine is no push over. She eventually does cave, but Maddox has to work hard at seducing her. Brie is all work, while Maddox likes to play. She gives in somewhat, but believes her personal relationship has a deadline. Maddox has other ideas. This push and pull between the two was enjoyable to read, and in the end they have some nice chemistry.
The downside to Mad About the Man that made me stop from giving it 4 stars and only 3 stars is that there is too much filler in between. A large section of the story is about Brie home with her family. It pulled me out of the story and the connection Maddox tries to build with Brie. Also, there’s a soap opera type of jaw dropping shock that made me roll my eyes. It made no sense why this shock and awe road block for Maddox and Brie would be inserted in the plot. It comes out of left field and puts a big damper on the bond and trust Brie develops with Maddox. I also felt the story went on a bit too long, and even though I enjoyed Brie and Maddox’s interactions, things would have worked better as a novella.
Mad About the Man is okay as contemporary romances go, but it would have worked better without the two big issues I mentioned above.

I so was not expecting this story. I loved it – picked it up, started reading it and couldn’t stop until I finished it. Written with exactly what I expect from Tracy Ann Warren, the story was told with just the right amount of laughter, love and lust. She brought the past and present together with style and really made us understand the mind of a pre-teen boy and what lengths he will go to to get the attention of the girl he likes.
Well, even though their lives went in different directions and then brought them back together again, it doesn’t mean that things are going to be any better now that it was in 7th grade for the two of them. Both Brie and Maddox are successful people. Brie an up-and-rising attorney, Maddox a hotel mogul. Apart they are forces of nature but together, there is no stopping them.
Once Brie-Brie faces her fears, accepts her feelings of lust and puts her big girl Mickey Mouse underwear on, she has to admit that her feelings for Maddox are more than just great sex. They have fun together, they have a lot in common, they enjoy each other’s company. Everything that good relationships are built on. But, she is really having a hard time getting past the fact that
he’s a client, his actions in the past and his relentless pursuit of her.
Finally giving in, she trusts her instincts to get her out before it’s too late. Then, several things happen that have her reeling, hurt and broken, again.
Maddox goes after what he wants. When he realizes the woman playing against him in tennis doubles is his middle-school crush, he can’t help but revert to the 12 year old, obnoxious boy that he was. And, seeing her again also makes him see that she could be so much more than hot sex. Decisions have to be made that with either make or break what he has with Brie. He could only hope that she’ll understand, that she will forgive him, that she’ll eventually come back to him. He’ll wait for her, do whatever he has to, if her just being his attorney is all that she will give him …. he’ll take it.
Deception tore them apart … devastation brings them back together again.
I loved Brie’s story. It brought out every emotion that I had. I laughed at their antics when they were young; I was excited when they finally got together; I was mortified when the truth came out; I cried right with the rest of the Grayson’s at the cemetery; then danced with Elvis in Las Vegas.
But, what I loved the most was how the story was told. It was fluid, written with style and flair. Tracy Ann Warren brings out the best in each of her characters. She makes us feel a part of their life and never makes us feel like a voyeur … she draws us in with their laughter and tears, makes us love them and then gives us what really want and crave – a beautiful happily-ever-after.
